The Shining is a 1980 psychological horror film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick and co-written with novelist Diane Johnson. It is based on Stephen King's novel and stars Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Danny Lloyd, and Scatman Crothers.
