Là-bas, elle rencontre Chris, un jeune homme charmant, mais leur idylle est interrompue par ses obligations professionnelles. Profitant pour découvrir la vie moderne seule, Emma découvre un cadavre dans la cuisine. Assommée peu après par une silhouette mystérieuse, elle reprend conscience et choisit de retourner dans sa communauté Amish. Quand des détectives viennent l'interroger, elle comprend qu'elle devra mener sa propre enquête pour retrouver le meurtrier.
