Kaala Patthar is a 1979 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed and produced by Yash Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner. The film stars an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Raakhee, Parveen Babi, Neetu Singh, and Prem Chopra, with the screenplay written by Salim–Javed. Inspired by the 1975 Chasnala mining disaster, India's worst mining disaster that killed 375 miners, the narrative follows the lives of workers in a coal mine facing exploitation, unsafe conditions, and personal redemption.
